AUTOCLAVE BUYER’S GUIDE

Current-production dental autoclaves:

Statclave by SciCan

An innovative design from a longtime authority in autoclaves, the Statclave is a unique and complex B-class design. It uses a water venturi system to acheive B-class sterilization. They can be high maintenance, and we only recommend them to users who are deeply invested in the SciCan ecosystem.

Bravo G4 by SciCan

This newest version of SciCan’s B-class Bravo joins their G4 IoT ecosystem with features like automatic cycle tracking and online diagnostics. This model’s complex design typically means more maintenance over time. Works best in clean environments with modest usage demands.

Lexa by W&H

Lexa is an impressive autoclave. Not only is it full-featured with all the latest tech, it is also designed with a mechanical simplicity that makes it the most reliable, low-maintenance model on this list. The Lexa is our top recommend for any dental office. It’s also the best option on the market for high-use situations.

T-Top by Tuttnauer

Tuttnauer is best known for their manual autoclaves, but the T-Top is a state-of-the-art, fully automatic and full-featured model that checks all the boxes. However, the T-Top also features a complex mechanical design, which can mean more maintenance over time. Fortunately, Tuttnaurer provides excellent technical support.

Midmark M9/M11 next gen

Midmark’s M11 has been a trusted workhorse for decades, but this next-gen model represents a complete redesign. The digital display is nice, but this new model still lacks closed-door drying, which feels like an oversight. Midmark claims the redesigned chamber will provide a longer, 25,000-cycle service life, about twice what you can expect from most B-class models.

M-series by Tuttnauer

Tuttnauer’s manual autoclaves come in a wide variety of sizes and have a lower purchase price than automatic models. They lack any high-tech features and require more attention from the operator, whio must set the time and temperature for each cycle. Manual autoclaves are very low cost to operate and repair.
